What is Anger?

    Anger is a natural human emotional response.  It is part of the 'fight or  flight' mechanism, which evolved millions of years ago to help us deal with physical danger.  Anger can help our survival and helps us to protect others.  On the other hand when anger gets out of control it can become destructive.
    • Anger is an emotional state that varies in intensity, from mild irritation to intense fury and rage.

    • Anger can be triggered by external or internal events

    • Anger motivates us to take action against perceived unfairness.
    • Our anger is personal to us. It is your reaction to people or events.

    • Anger is the end result of a process.  It can build up over a period of time.

    Possible Effects

    Anger can be one of the most debilitating emotions we experience.  It drains us of our energy, emotional freedom and personal power.  Your anger only hurts one person (you), the other person doesn't feel a thing!  Anger uses up a lot of energy............

      Anger releases a range of hormones that affects every part of your body, resulting in rapid heart-beat, breathlessness, high blood pressure and a raised body temperature. If we hold on to resentments and painful thoughts, the stress hormones that are meant to save us during emergencies, become toxins.  Many physical ailments often stem from unresolved anger.
